Short-Term Courses For Skills Training
Sensing a significant gap between education and industrial requirements, Pennsylvania College of Technology began to offer short-term courses to provide vocational training to candidates, making them employable and job-ready after the course completion. A large majority of students get job offers in the final semester of their course, which makes it a sought-after college.
Margaret J. Krauss said in a recent specific skills:
“Located in Williamsport, Pa., Penn College began to offer short-term, non-credit training in 2009 for five jobs on the state’s list of high-priority occupations: roustabout, welder’s helper, production technician, floorhand, and a commercial driver’s license program.”
Candidates who are looking for training courses to find jobs in the oil and gas industry can register at the Pennsylvania College of Technology today.
Simulator For Well-Decommissioning Training
The demand for well decommissioning continues, making it important for oil and gas companies to find candidates who are trained in the process of well decommissioning. The Robert Gordon University at Aberdeen will have a new simulator, designed to mimic older rigs, to handle plugging and abandonment of oil wells. This simulator will help users to identify and correct any problems that are expected to arise during well decommissioning.
Mark Lammey said in a recent specific skills on energyvoice.com:
“Oil industry drilling experts are scheduled to take delivery of a new simulator at Robert Gordon University (RGU). They say it will be the world’s first simulator designed for well decommissioning training…. Maersk recently used the simulator to prepare for its drilling campaign on the Culzean field in the North Sea.”
The simulator will help evaluate the decision-making skills of people who need to interpret rig data and provide solutions for them. It helps people identify and anticipate problems, before they get out of hand.
The simulator is expected to bring down the cost of well decommissioning. Oil and gas companies that are into well decommissioning activities will benefit by enrolling workers for the decommissioning training provided at the university. The simulator is expected to reduce human errors, preventing major leaks.

It takes certain problem-solving skills, ability to interpret rig data and anticipate problems, before they blow out of proportion to make it in the world of oil and gas.
