Jobs Requiring a College Education
Engineers. They may direct the planning and execution of construction projects, and they may advise management. They also ensure that the oil pipeline is safe and effective. They design and implement projects in accordance with federal safety standards.
1.Drilling engineers, to be precise, ensure oil is safely extracted. Drilling engineers fall into a subcategory of petroleum engineers. Petroleum engineers design and implement techniques for getting oil from shale deposits. Additionally, they find innovative ways to get oil from wells. Engineers who work in the oil fields usually have a college degrees in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or petroleum engineering.
2. Production Managers. Responsible for the day-to-day, efficient operation of the oil-drilling equipment and for the processes that extract that oil, the production manager also supervises workers on how to maintain equipment and how to keep a safe work environment. Production managers must know how to use computer software programs that control the operation of oil-well pumps.

3. Truck drivers. Oil truck drivers who load and haul crude from the oil fields to the refinery or the storage facility can find Bakken oil field jobs. Another kind of truck seen on oil fields is the water truck. Water truck drivers transport freshwater to the oil rigs and then take it to disposal sites once the oil-production process is complete. Other truck drivers transport gravel or operate vacuum trucks, which clean up an area by removing wet or dry materials.
4. Mechanics. Auto and diesel mechanics have plenty of work repairing and maintaining the many trucks (and autos) that operate in and around the oil fields.
5. Roustabout or laborers on the oil rigs. These workers generally work on the floor of oil rigs. They may assemble or repair equipment. They may also maintain equipment by lubricating and cleaning it.
6. Welders. They repair equipment by welding it. They may fabricate parts and weld them to oil-drilling and related equipment. They may service drilling rigs on site. If necessary, they may have to use jacks, cranes and lifts to perform the work. Most employers need applicants to have their own welding truck.
General Requirements
Candidates who want careers with Bakken oil companies should have no arrests (at least for the last five years), pass drug and alcohol tests and have a clean driving record.
Truck drivers need a commercial driver’s license.
