Oil & Rig Career – Becoming Women’s Preference

We are in the age where men and women are considered equal. Today there are women workers in almost all the professions. Oil and rig career is one of them. There are many women today who are ready to experiment with their career options and work in the oil and rig industry.

In a news article, The Institute Director of The Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Helen Wollaston was found mentioning:

“It is great to read that there is an increase of female candidates registering their interest in oil and gas careers, and particularly that younger women are engaging with the industry. Most girls when they are at school don’t realize how many exciting opportunities are available in oil and gas to those with the right qualifications.”

They are not only exploring  the various career options, but are also equally talented and capable as far as taking up the oil and rig positions are concerned. Most of these women fall within the age group of 23-32 years.

How Well Paid are These Careers

People who opt for oil and rig careers are paid well. In fact, in one of the news articles it was mentioned:

“The survey of more than 10,000 staff by recruitment website Oil and Gas People, published today, found wages were being pushed higher by demand for skilled staff in Africa and the Middle East, with some in the UK enjoying pay rises of up to 30 per cent last year.”

Lot of people have realized it is a good idea to keep their options open by traveling overseas for oil drilling companies. Many of them are open to working in oil rig locations like U.K. and the Middle East to find suitable career options in the oil and rig industry.

In fact, according to a report, though the industry consists of 13% women, there are also some of them who are open to taking up the challenges of drilling, rigging apart from engineering jobs.
