Workers in oil and gas sector enjoy higher wages
According to a recent news article:
“Salaries in the oil and gas sectors are soaring as pay in other industries stagnates, new research has suggested. S1jobs, Scotland’s largest recruitment platform, has said that half of the 10 best paid positions it advertised in the past year were Aberdeen-based jobs in the oil and gas industry and that a widening gap was opening up with other areas including banking, where pay is still being affected by the 2008 financial crash.”
Many recruitment firms have claimed that a shortage of workers has compelled them to increase the wages to attract people.
Firms turn to military personnel to fill positions
While some recruitment agencies are approaching retired people and offering them incentives to continue working in oil rig jobs, other firms are approaching military personnel to fill positions in the oil and gas industry. Military personnel were found to possess soft skills like leadership skills, apart from other skill sets that were found to be suitable for jobs in the energy sector.
As explained by Gene Lockard in a recent article:
“Military personnel generally acquire a significant amount of invaluable experience, training and personal qualities that translate well into the civilian job market, and into the energy industry in particular.”
Former military personnel who are looking for a transition to the oil and gas industry will benefit as they can pursue rewarding civilian careers in the energy industry.
Oil and gas workers are enjoy higher pay packages when compared to workers in other sectors. The incentive of getting better pay is enticing people from other sectors, like former military personnel to transition to the oil and gas industry.
