Growth In Energy Jobs Worldwide
According to the Hays Oil & Gas Job Index, recruitment in the oil and gas industry picked up pace around the globe in the first quarter of 2014. This trend of hiring more number of candidates was noticed in countries like Russia, Africa and North America. The job growth in the oil and gas industry is expected to continue in the second and third quarter as well.
John Faraguna, global managing director of Hays Oil & Gas said in a written statement from a recent article:
“Investment in businesses and new technologies to support enhanced oil recovery is driving new projects. As a result, optimism is high and we expect to see further growth in 2014… employers may struggle to find the talent needed and be forced to fight it out with other companies for these sought after profiles.”
The planned investments made in South America are likely to create more job opportunities for oil and gas workers in the later part of the year. The oil and gas companies in Houston are likely to see improved rates of oil production, fuelling the demand for skilled workers.
Shortage Of Skilled Talent In Oil and Gas Industry
With the upgrading of equipment used by oil and gas companies in exploration and production activities, there is a significant demand for skilled talent in the oil and gas industry. There is an urgent need for providing training to employees, which can be accomplished by setting up trade schools or organizing training sessions for them.
Tom McGregor said in a recent article:
“Oil & Gas companies must do a better job of training their employees to handle hi-tech equipment. Opening up more energy tech training trade schools and courses could be the wave of the future, since these jobs are really needed and offer high pay as well.”
All in all, things are looking up for candidates who wish to pursue rewarding careers in the oil and gas industry. The increase in the number of job openings around the globe will also help them land a career of their choice.
