Oil & Gas Industry Is Booming With Jobs

The oil and gas industry is one of the most well paid industries in the world. With the kind of robust work that is expected, this industry makes sure it takes good care of its workers. There are still a lot of people who are unaware of the kind of openings that are available in this industry. In fact, aspirants are not even aware of the right resources that can help them get the openings they are looking for.

The unfortunate part however is that there are jobs in the market, but one isn’t aware. In one of the news articles, Jack Gerand, the API (American Petroleum Institute) President and CEO, mentioned:

“Currently, the entire natural gas and oil industry supports 9.2 million U.S. jobs; accounts for 7.7 percent of the U.S. economy and delivers $86 million per day in revenue to our government.”

Jobs from drilling, rigging to roustabout jobs, all are available in the oil industry. You just need to be aware of where to go for the right opportunities.

A Well Paid Job

Oil and gas jobs are undoubtedly the best paid jobs. In fact, according to one article, there was a debate whether these jobs were paid more than they should be.

In one such debates,  U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-New Orleans, addressed small business owners who were providing the bulk of oil industry jobs. She mentioned in the news article:

“The average wage is $34.50 per hour, 50 percent higher than the current national wage.”

Some of the workers who get these high wages are not even diploma holders or have GEDs. They get this kind of pay by taking offshore jobs where they are well paid compared to an onshore one with less pay.
