Students stand to benefit as they can enjoy a 12-week free training at the entry level.

“Fluor, which has secured contracts with major downstream players in the region such as BASF, LyondellBasell and Sasol, recently opened a U.S. Gulf Coast craft training center near Houston. The facility offers entry-level craft training in the electrical, instrumentation, millwright and pipefitting trades. Moreover, it offers experienced, active welders advanced training. Tuition for the 12-week entry-level craft training program is free for students.”

Rig Tours For Oil And Gas Workers Under The Age of 35
The American Petroleum Institute-Young Professionals is organizing rig tours for oil and gas workers who are under the age of 35, to familiarize them with an oil rig. The non-profit organization is dedicated towards mentoring and developing young professionals, preparing them to take on the challenges of the oil and gas industry.
Valerie Jones said in a recent article:
“One such organization is the American Petroleum Institute-Young Professionals (API-YP), designed for oil and gas workers under the age of 35 or who have less than five years of industry experience. The nonprofit organization believes in mentorship and professional development of young professionals. API-YP recently hosted a rig tour near Houston in which 100 people (a third of whom were between 14 and 18 years old) attended.“
The industry-wide shortage of skilled crafts professionals has spurred demand for trained candidates to fill these positions. Candidates who complete the training receive certifications that are recognised in the industry. They can then apply for relevant skilled positions like welding inspection jobs.
